Easy fix for 1017 being ignored...

Put in a 15 minute auto AFK log out function in the game, even if its just temporary. SE is obviously against automatic log outs or else they would have done this a long time ago. Or, its part of some stupid marketing scheme that wants the player to think that the game is SO awesome that getting in is like getting into an exclusive night club. Or, they're just trolls.
It won't completely fix the problem but it would drastically help with players trying to log in. For those that don't know already... once you're logged in, you can stay logged in AFK until the server actually has to go down.

I have said this one MANY threads. It's what needs done. Too many idlers sitting AFK so they're always logged in, 15 mins is good and it will eliminate the 1017 error. I guarantee that at least 30% of the population are afkers doing other things.

The only thing I can see, from other MMOs, as to why they are not having AFK timeouts, is maybe they will be implementing personal shops? In that case you HAVE to have the ability to AFK to leave your store open. Other than that there is no reason for this.

Get a grasp on our brand new FF XIV ARR! You can play late with our "Late Access" Policy which allows you to constantly frustrate trying to log in into the game you paid for! So much better than that "Early Access" S**t. I mean, seriously, don't you love that AMAZING Log in music? We know you do! There you go! 1017 for everyone! Enjoy!

As much as an auto-disconnect would solve things, the issue rises that, just as you've paid to play the game (or will someday) so did everyone else. Thus, everyone else is entitled to be able to play every bit as much as you. Yes, it is a bit annoying to have to wait to log in, my issue none less than yours being I'm on a Legacy server and those servers are more overpopulated than the newer servers, but I can't be mad about it. The fact that it is overpopulated not only debunced the whole cry about how noone would want to play with Legacy players, but also means this game has a genuine future with this kind of playerbase. Just got to take it on the chin and look forward to the server fixes that are eventually coming.

I wish people would read and study in full before answering. Yoshi has to post up in the dev tracker. If you read up on this then you may be disgusted more with what they are claiming to create more space but in truth they are just making more servers so you can play period. No part says they are expanding servers. No word on transfers for your main. Just word that they will continue log in restrictions and character creation restrictions on current servers and MAYBE/THINKING about afk timee. So its start over or still be frustrated. How do you feel about starting from scratch?
