whm in garuda 44 fight?

She is one shotting me even behind a full pillar, then group yells at me and says I suck because tank always dies last (what?) aside from their stupidity of not realizing the reason they are alive is I kept them that way (though curiously 3 of us dying at once still = me first they don't count), how can I avoid being one-shot ? her astral does it sometimes even behind a full pillar.

I am guessing you are talking about the part when she teleports to the middle? All I know is that the group has to be behind the largest pillar in order to avoid death, but what I do is start the cast of my AoE heal which is Succor since I am a scholar. Being that medica is stronger than mine, but without the shield bonus it may have the same effect and keep the party alive and just have to be topped back off after it happens.

Tank should be popping the Limit Break before this. Other then that, make sure everybody's at full health and always make sure the piller is more alive then the others. They're all going to take damage. as the 2h commences, pop Presence of Mind and Diving Seal and get ready to Medica spam. Use Shroud of Saints if you pull too much hate from Garuda afterwards

alright, I'll tell tanks to do just that, probably would have beaten it three times then

I know that feel, OP. It was really disheartening to get 40+ levels to suddenly be told I suck at my job.

The game is fast paced so I know the others aren't watching what I'm doing, but I'm working just as hard as everyone else (if not arguably harder!) and the tank decides to rage at me. I'm never doing Garuda ever again unless FC/LS friends want or need the help from me - and I love Garuda's design! It was just a terrible experience.

I was doing this fight last night and had a poor lalafell SMN that kept getting one-shotted behind even fully tall pillars. 80% of the time.

Honestly...I don't even think pillars factor into the dmg. I was a PLD, but still, standing by the large rock formation not covered by any of the pillars and was still taking about the same kind of dmg as when I was behind one...maybe even less. Don't take it too hard, that fight is crazy. We literally kept trying from the 90 minute mark and only won in the last 10 minutes.

I didn't even realize as a tank I could avoid her Slipstream attack until half way through because I didn't see AoE borders. Bleh. Avoiding that helps with mitigating the dmg enough for my healer to actually catch a break. It's a big learning experience for everyone.

Just finished the fight last night after many many wipes. Here are a few tips that you can pass on to your future groups, for any fight.

The mechanics in this game are intense due to the numbers required. They are meant to test you and your party. Keep that in mind and it's not all on your shoulders. It is as much as your party's job to not take unnecessary damage as it is your job to keep everyone alive. The one thing that kept making us fail was the tank taking Slipstream damage. It doesn't kill the tank and can be healed, but that is wasted MP and it adds up over time.

Next time you are put into a stressful party, take note of what is killing your MP. Create some constructive criticism to help everyone improve their game. Of course, there will be some people who are hopeless and think it is never their fault. Unfortunately, when that happens I think the only recourse is to re-queue for Duty. Sucks, but you'll have a much better time with the game.

I feel like there is more to it than just whether one pillar is a full, I think it's the total health of all remaining pillars that go into reducing the damage. When I tried it last night we had lost all pillars except one which was a full stack pillar; and she one shot 3 of us at full health from behind it (aside from the tank). When tried it again we hadn't completely lost any pillars, and still had a 3 stack pillar; and the damage was nowhere near as brutal; in fact it was a cakewalk.

I think the communities understanding of the fight is lacking.

That part of the fight is the start of phase 2, it doesn't matter where you are standing as the nuke will hit the entire party for massive damage.

What I've found that if your tank has 2 bars of LB, your group will be safe if topped off. If he's only got 1 bar however, most squishies will be annihilated. My solution was to HoT everyone up before phase 2, pop presence of mind and make sure everyone has a stoneskin(tank being the last priority, his HP pool lets him live just fine with only 1 bar LB).

If you manage to get through the nuke, the hard part is over. Stay focused and she'll be dead soon.

That fight was great, i had 3 meeles, so was pretty insane all 3 always took the aoe's ALWAYS ALWAYS!!!!

The 2 DD were healed with regen 90 % of the time and tank Cure 1 and if proc Cure 2.
Between Phase 1 and 2 just let the tank use Limitbreak you dont even need Aoe heals there are too expensive. We needed 6 tries, our tank run 3 times in the storm in phase 2.
