Oh, look, a valid complaint: Player Repairs

In amongst the plethora of threads complaining about logging in, not logging in, afk'ing, not afk'ing; I would like to insert a valid complaint.

Players cannot repair other player's gear. Why?

I leveled all of the crafts so I could create and repair gear for myself, my husband and our ls mates. At the higher levels, repairs can be expensive. This seems unnecessarily punitive to players that do not want to level crafting classes. Also, it's cheaper for me to just craft new gear for my husband than to have his existing gear repaired. While that may be part of the reason they stopped letting players repair, (moves items through the market) it doesn't work too well with regard to the U/U items.

Anyone else hoping SE brings this option back?

You should be able to repair other players gear.

crafting took a back seat in this game only fighting is the focus.

Couldn't be more wrong. Crafting is still incredibly valid and far more fun than in 1.0

I think the change happened when they made it where repair NPCs could take gear up to 100% whereas in 1.0 they could only fix up to 99%. This placed the last 1% in the pervue of player crafters. This also made it impossible to store certain equipment in the armoire unless a player fixed it. This likely became something of an issue in transfering 1.0 character as it's likely many had gear that was in varying states of condition and the amount of space we were losing would have forced more than a little item loss (hence the Calamity Salvagers). To keep that from happening, NPC repairers finally learned how to fix that last 1%, negating the need of player crafter repairs. Still, would have been nice to have kept it for when doing those inevitable super instances like Hamlets.

I have to seriously disagree with you here. Looking at the recipes for high level crafts, and high level gathering, they most certainly did not put us in the backseat. That's what's so disturbing to me. They've put a LOT of thought into how crafting, gathering and the battle classes overlap. It seems like an oversight that players can't repair other players gear.

As far as I can tell, it's almost never economical to repair your own gear anymore as the quick repair costs are almost always significantly lower than the required, non-gatherable dark matter. I hope they make dark matter gatherable again as that is the only way repair will make any sense - on your own gear or for others.

Apparently a complaint about not being able to repair someone else's equipment is a valid complaint, but not being able to play the game we already paid for isn't. I really hope you just misspoke.

Oh great, give players another reason to stay logged in overnight so they can repair their gear. Good job. Every other invalid post that you mentioned are complaining about this kind of system.
