Unable to update

To those of you experiencing the unable to update error, Here's what I did and it worked
for me

1. I created a character on a JP server, broke through 1017 and then quit the game
2. When I logged back in, it was unable to create JP servers, but the US/EU servers were working suddenly
3. Broke through a few long loads and 1017 again and I'm playing my character

While this may be a strange coincidence if someone else can confirm this it would be fantastic. I'm no tech genius, but I never stop until something works.
