Registration Code for PS3 Doesn't work...

I've been playing on the PC for awhile now, and decided to get a PS3 copy as well. After setting up, downloading, the 12-digit registration code did not work. - I was on my PSN NA account.

I've noticed that 18-digit product registration code suggested I go and register SE ID on an EU server, though I did put this code code on my NA account and it works just fine.

Does this mean that the 12-digit registration code is region restricted to EU or the code is just faulty? - Is my only fix is to trade with a NA registration code? Or wait til SE is able to reply to me? - I've search a number of places and trading seems to be the only option, but of course I'm afraid about getting scammed.

I've already sent an email to support, but given the time and the amount of tickets they've been getting I won't get an answer any time soon...

Anyone know if the 12-digit code is actually relevant to the region? Or is it only the 18-digit - so I have an idea of what I'm trying to fix as in if i only need any 12-digit code, or a NA 12 digit code.
