The forum character limit is ridiculously small.

1000 characters isn't enough for much of anything. If you quote someone your post gets cut in half and that's assuming it was a tiny post to begin with. It's very hard to have a serious, in-depth discussion about anything with a character limit that's a tiny fraction of what most forums have. In fact, this is actually the only forum where I've ever hit the character limit. It needs to be at least 5000 characters, minimum.

There's a workaround. The character limit is only on the initial post. You can make a placeholder post first and then copy in what you wanted to say with no limit afaik
