What are the minions useful for?

Are they simply a decoration? or do they provide something as far as battle buffs?

Despite being called minions, they are only for decoration.

They just look nice as far as i can tell. They don't really serve any purpose.

some of them you can buy, other are crafted and some are rewards from dungeons/fates or quests

Similar to any kind of non combat pet in many MMO's majority are useless however some are quite nice :)

hope in a later patch they will give stat boosts etc giving them some extra purpose for example certain minions when summoned give + 5 to strength/mind blah blah
