Early Access -> Registration Question

I realize that I need to upgrade my account subscription on mogstation, and set up the retail registration code on top of the early access code. But i didn't, when the launcher this morning asked me to re-register I input my retail code and now have 2 copies of ff14 on my account, also without being able to set up a subscription to my retail account, it defaults to my early access. So now when I try to input my retail code it says its already in use, understandable. MY QUESTION IS THIS:
Am I able to buy a retail copy at a local store and use that code to upgrade my Early Access account and set up a subscription, or is the account somewhat bound to the key I messed up and I have to wait until SE gets to me in the support queue?
