Character created at completely random server instead of the chosen one

I started the game yesterday for the first time and after some initial problems with error 2002 I finally got to choose a server.
I chose Phoenix(EU) (I'm in EU) because a friend plays on it. My character was created but for some odd reason I'm now on Durandal(LEGACY) in Japan...

Btw... the server situation for Europe is a joke, really, always completely full and you spent more time in the login as actually playing the game, how about some more servers? Japan hast what? 25? NA has 19, Europe gatting 6, 6!!!
