Notorious Biggs - I Was able to skip fight

I was on the quest "Notorious Biggs"

I accepted the quest, and went to Daniffen Pass to go save Biggs. When I got there I had two quest scenario icons on my map. I first clicked on to Y'shtola to enter the fight, but it said "I was unable to enter because I was on not on a Dicipline of War or Magic". I thought this was weird because I was on Warrior.

At this point I was confused, I thought "maybe I should look at the other scenario mark" which was right around the purple area where it looked like biggs and imperials were at. While I was headed to that purple place, I quickly changed my job from warrior > dragoon > warrior. When I got there, I tabbed around and I was able to interact with something that was invisible (it didn't say I was targeting anything). I finished the interaction, and it completed the step in the quest without having to do the fight.
