Is there any difference between EU and US key codes?

Since there are no region restrictions in FFXIV, would it matter if someone purchased an EU code and played in the US?

It does actually.
For some odd reason, you need to use your NA or EU SE acc to use certain codes.
I dunno why they did this, that's why peoples complain when getting the wrong codes.
It will not register.

Sadly this matter caused lots of trouble for players bounding their region from different games etc and forced to make a new account just so they can play FF14 =/

and they never really explain why they made such region codes

But either way, whichever region you created your account in, you have access to all servers inside (assuming you can still create one inside due to character creation limitation restrictions)
