Is there a chart, or somewhere that explains how much (for example) strength is lost when you sync down 20 levels. Is it a percentage of the max amount that was on the gear, or item level?
Tried checking my gear in the instance and it just had a (S) next to it. Numbers were still the same.
Or do we need to buy level appropriate gear?
If it does scale would a level 30 gear with +3 strength be better than lvl 50 gear with +6 strength?
I would like to know as well. What's weird is that when I level sync on my Lancer I find myself doing the same amount of damage. Doing level 9 fates from level 25 and still critting for 80 damage.

If I'm doing a level 15 story quest on my level 27 Pugilist, I'd imagine that I could do it in the bits and pieces of not-great gear I have on hand (a level 20 chest piece, dated level 24 shoes, etc) as I could likely take on level 15 enemies easily even with my character wearing the starter gear. But -- does that level 20 chest piece scale down to a level 15 chest piece of relatively equal strength, or does it scale down based on how good it is for a level 27 character?
I think it scales with item level so if your a level 50 wearing gear that's item level is 60-70 then when you sync down your gear would be like wearing all HQ gear for the level you are at. Well that's my theory anyway.

Am I better off getting level appropriate gear for lower level dungeons? Or am I ok wearing OP gear?

From what I can tell the person who said iLvl dependent is probably correct, Common gear will sync to wearing common gear at that level, aetherical gear will sync to wearing aetherical gear at that level, Green gear will sync to wearing green gear for that level, and higher gear(AF, AF+1, Darklight, Primal Weapons,etc.) will sync to better than the green gear at that level depending on how high the ilvl is.
