Traits and Trait Management

Hello! My name is Blind Magus and I am excitedly picking up my Collector's Edition copy of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn at my local EB tomorrow...

Anyway, I have been doing research on classes, jobs, multi-classing, cross-class skills, etc. Unfortunately, I have found little to no information on the subject of Trait Management.

Effectively speaking, when I am finished levelling my Thaumaturge and switch to Arcanist, what becomes of the traits I've gained with that class?

Do they deactivate until I switch back to that class, or can I stack them? I know that you can equip a max of 10 cross-class skills as a class and 5 overall as a job, but are the traits I've gained among those I have to distribute into these "cross-class skill" slots?

yes traits deactivate when you switch classes and then a new set of traits will come available to learn and be used with that new class. the traits are just passive bonuses and are different for each class.
