My FC just recently became rank 4, I haven't seen anything to set a crest on gear though, Is this something we'll need to talk to the grand company about, or am I just missing it. Thanks in advance.

Go to the Grand Company where your FC is associated with, then speak with the OIC NPC standing near the main counters.

I've put it on a few things. You have to take to the guy in the GC HQ that's just standing in the lobby, not one of the guys behind the counter.
BTW, the placement is really lame on some gear and you can't remove the crest. Be careful, you could end up looking like you have a mushroom stamp on your cheek.
