Question about free companies

I was wondering if it is possible to change a free company's leader once its been made.

Basically, there is a group of us friends playing and I am at the point where I can make a free company but no one else is. I do not want to be the leader though. So can I make it and then give the leader to on of my other friends?

Yes. You can change someone else to the leader rank (default name, "Master")

This will place you at whatever your starting rank is.
