gathering question

so I got to level 15 as an arcanist, then got the airship pass and went to the other cities, picking up the job unlocks as I went.

I go back to limsa lominsa and put on my mining pick, and went out into the wilds only to find... not a single fricken mining point anywhere. and I spent at least 2 hours looking. yes I had prospecting on.

why are there no mining or harvesting points points in lominsa? why are there no harvesting points in ul'dah? why no mining points in gridania?

I mean, limsa has the blacksmith and armoro guild, which relies on mining to get materials

uldah has the weaver guild, which relies on stuff collected from botany.

am I missing something here?
