Its not the servers that worry me......

Hello all,

With word that new servers will be incoming early next week, I couldn't help but notice that I felt like this wouldnt fully solve the problems the servers are having. Now, mind you im not trying to flame at all, i love this game and have been following it since it was first announced and loving every second i get to play it.

That being said, I feel that free character transfers are necessary for the curret servers to be at easy. Especially Legacy servers. Most legacy members want to play with friends and they are adding basically a previous server with many more people on board.

Now on to what scares me, World Transfers are schedueled for mid september. Does anyone get the feeling that they wont allow free character transfers? I feel they need it and they need it as soon as new servers go up.

Cite sources please. If they weren't free for a short time to alleviate congestion we'd have even more complaining on the forums, completely justified this time.

I understand that they wont be free when they officially launch, but how about temporary transfers for all the people who could not make characters on the servers they wanted to?

I'm sorry shoulda added IMO. I'm just basing my answer on how SE has used transfers in the past. At very best we'd be allowed ONE free transfer but otherwise be prepared to shell out that 15 a-la FFXI style :p

A lot of the problems can be solved with a forced inactivity disconnect right now when it comes to the servers. A lot of people can't even log in on some of the servers just because some people never log out and stand around cause they know if they do, they may not be able to get back on. 30 minutes of inactivity should be autodisconnect. FORCED. I don't care if kiddies are running scripts at least its still going to boot afkers and let people who are ready and wanting to play, play the game. I'd transfer my char to one of the servers higher on the NA list for more of a chance to log in but I can't even do that right now, no one can. Atleast start booting afkers till server capacity problems are fixed.

Past history says this will not solve much at all. Several games have had similar issues like this and kicking inactive people did not solve the problem. Ignoring the minor improvement this might have ...."a lot" of people have ways to get around "inactivity" timers.

You're mistaken, this will help a lot because the servers are "full". Go to any Aetheryte and you will see TONS of people just standing there, doing absolutely nothing. Not everyone knows how to run a script. Some people just don't want to log out and AFK ALL DAY. Server instability is cause of congestion and capacity. Lower the amount of connections from afkers and lower the capacity as well. Won't have 1000's of people querying the login server every second either. Win, Win, Win.
