Gathering Log: Am I missing something?

Am I missing something or is the gathering log really barren? For level 40-45 Miner there are four things to collect from Upper La Noscea, and once I collected those things I got no message of completion or exp or anything. I can't immagine that there are only 4 things to mine at level 40-45, so what gives?

The Gathering Log is a barebones guide so you don't have to Alt+Tab to find item locations.

It severely lacks the utility of the Hunting and Crafting Logs.

That's unfortunate. So I'm guessing the fastest way to level a gathering class is leves?
