Hazards of creating characters on JPN servers?

OK - So I'm really still not able to connect when I'm actually able to play.

Many people suggested making characters on JPN servers as a means to actually do anything.
But then I heard a number of people saying they were unable to access their NA/EU characters.

Apparently... I did not express this to my wife - or if I did - I was mumbling.
She made a character on Tiamat yesterday so she could at least do SOMETHING, but our mains are on Gilgamesh.
Now, when she tries to view character lists, NA/EU won't even display: "Unable to attain list"
Funny thing is - I just loaded, and got the same error for JPN server: "Unable to attain list"

Is it actually denying you the ability to view servers opposite your last log-in?
Did this somehow re-register the players as a JPN player instead of NA/EU?
This would be a tragic tip of the iceberg for her, if she lost her NA/EU characters.

Does anyone actually have information on whether or not the other data is retained, and if/how it can be accessed again?

You do know the servers are getting updated right? I know a number of people that have made characters on JP servers including myself and I log onto my NA server just fine.

Indeed. I merely thought it strange that I couldn't view JP, and she couldn't view NA/EU at approximately the same time.

There were several threads in the past 5 days where people posted an inability-to-access / fear-of-having-lost their NA/EU characters after creating a JP character.
Most of those posts fell by the wayside though without any definitive answer for resolution, and since my wife has been able to view NA/EU again.
(she indicated this a half-second after I clicked: "create thread")

Figured this post could still contain information for people facing a similar issue and give them answers that never seemed to show up in the others.

I have a similar issue albeit on the opposite side of the coin per say. My situation was the same in that since I could not do anything in the Beta and Early Access phases that I decided to indefinitely start playing on a JP server. Lo to my behest, I grew fond of my character and enjoyed playing in the JP server. Although I was on the FOREVER ALONE state I carried on with the thought that heroes are lone wolves and started to please myself (not in that way). Today, this maintenance happened. And I couldnt log in due to the game being unable to retrieve an update. So I went to a friend and copied his 'boot' directory over to mine and it resolved my issue.

"I WAS REDEI!", I thought, as I hastily punched in my great password of 12389179082 characters.
I was able to log in, patched, and my game came up. What greeted me to my horror was a character I was able to create in Phase 2 of Beta... instead of my handsome Drow-ish character (that looks like me IRL by the way, minus the effeminacy that plagues all elf races in lore) that I created in Early Access. My JP server list disappeared!

I am now contemplating crafting a girlfriend made of wood. Maybe she will cheer me up.

Guessing the phase-2 style character was not on JP servers, eh?
Since, my wife's been able to see both, but still not log into her US character.
I got lucky it seems and logged in last night for a whole hour, but didn't want to play without her, so I just crafted/gathered.

Best I can tell, is that with the issues (now) hitting both server sets, they're having inter-communication issues.
Can usually be resolved by X in the lower left, then selecting "Play" again - provided the servers aren't actually down, of course.

My first character is always self-symbolic ~ Then my alternates are always far from myself. :)

As for the girlfriend made of wood... Dude... All I can say is "splinters" and quote Sterling Archer: "Dannnger Zooone!"
