So here's why the servers are always full:

I wonder how many account that corresponds to? and how many of these fellow players will stay and subscribe?

It also confirms that new servers are coming at the start of the next week, so hopeful everything will go better by then, if not sooner.

What did XI have at prime times? Somewhere between 1000-2000?

This is interesting information, thanks for the heads up. :)

It confirms what was already suspected, ie SE taken by surprise by the runaway success and are now very busy scrambling to make the infrastructure meet the demands. It can be argued that SE should have prepared for this contingency, but that is water under the bridges now.

Next week new server infrastructure will be added, and things will hopefully be better. Maybe they can offer us a "I survived 1017" t-shirt. :D

That's great news - I haven't seen a MMORPG increase the number of people logging in after release day since the launch of vanilla WoW. I think it just goes to show that word of mouth is bringing in new players who were reluctant after the debacle of 1.0

I thought the numbers were millions.. Considering the time it takes to just be able to 'queue'...

I certainly recall around '06, '07, '08 maybe, seeing Phoenix up over 3000 in '/sea all'.

Take into account, the most of them users will be in the starting areas!

Same. Ifrit around the same time frame was about 2.7k in EU prime. I imagine that would have jumped up to about 3k in NA prime.

FFXI in its prime had around 18? servers, with around 3500-4500 people online at the same time and they're peak subs were at 500k, it's possible this game has more than 1million accounts already.
