quick laptop question
I'm thinking of buying a laptop soon with these specs
i5 2430M 2.6 Ghz
4gb RAM
geforce GT 640M LE
500GB HD
for 480 euro
http://www.skroutz.gr/s/3619545/Fuji...4GB-500GB.html
will this laptop be able to run final fantasy 14 smoothly even on low?
when I say "smoothly",I can handle fps at around 20 but below that,it gets ugly
thanks for the help! :)

Hello.
Yes ARR will play just fine, at that 1280*768 resolution. You could probably do just fine on the "High (Laptop)" setting but if you find lag, most likely in FATES, you can use the High (Laptop) setting as a starting point and adjust from there.
Though would suggest to buy an 8GB ram kit and replace the laptop's ram. 8GB isn't absolutely needed, but you will notice better battery life and shorter loading screens due to the system not caching as much on the HDD.
ARR at least for me likes to run around 700MB~1GB of memory use.

It's fine. I ran this game on a machine much older than that and I had no problems.

better battery life with more RAM? huh...that sounds interesting lol
I'll most likely upgrade to 8gb but not from the start...the seller I talked to,told me that it's better for laptops to work a bit with their default ram before changing it.
sounds stupid if you ask me but even 4gb ram will be more than enough 99.9% of the time so I didn't pay him much mind lol
oh and by the way, that laptop has a resolution of 1366x768 and I kinda plan on playing it in its native resolution,I don't suppose it would impact the performance by that much
thanks for your reply :)

Frankly - with that "graphic" card you'll be struggling to enjoy the game I'm affraid. It will be close to slide show in highly populated areas ...

yes...I did some searching myself and it seems that the intel 4000 is even worse than I had imagined, even with a much better CPU

You'd really prefer to have a PC / Laptop with dedicated GC, not the integrated. That's even more important that max speed of CPU or more that 6 - 8 GB of RAM.
