PVP...?

Any news on PVP? Is it still in a "generic" for lack of a better term, at the moment? I heard you had to finish a portion of the story quest and select you GC before accessing this. Anyone tried it yet and can shed their thoughts on the potential of it? Any other game comparisons/ similarities?

should be out in first patch. different armor, weapons and weapon skills for PVP. It will be nothing like what you saw in P4. P4 was for server stress testing <--- lol

Specificially for PVP? Like a whole new set of skills and equips? Or like modified for "PVP Mode Actions" or something of the sort..

All new everything. Nothing from PVE content should be in PVP. Look at some of the producer live letters for more details.

PVP gear that can't be worn in PVE

New weaponskills specific to PVP. Can not be used in PVE.

Cool, sounds like a whole 'nother game, within a game. Pretty excited for this.

the basic battle arena was tested in beta 4 but it won't officially launch until patch 2.1. There is a second, more elaborate event called 'frontlines' that will also be avialable at some point after that.

Testing was conducted without any of the special actions they are creating to help balance PvP, so it wasn't exactly perfectly balanced at the time, but again, it was incomplete.

You will access PvP by going to The Wolve's Den Pier in la noscea and talking to the NPC at the registraiton counter. There is an aetheryte in that area, so you might want to visit it before then.

The idea and hope of the things being "totally separate" spits in the face of the immersion that A) MMORPGs are centered around and B) the direction and emphasis of the new development team.

Beyond specific rewards gained from PvP and actions/abilities being tweaked in PvP (perhaps some unique) granted through PvP, all those hoping for a PvP monorail that guts out the rest of the game should expect to be sorely disappointed.

I love PvP, and I love PvP in an MMO setting. This fast-track to entry stuff that circumvents the entire world that one is playing in is ridiculous and a mindset borne from the desire of instant gratuity and ultimately from people who should not be catered to.

People who want this aren't here for the entirety of the game, in their very base desire they are stating that they wish for the other 90% of the game to have no relevance. Synergy is what keeps a game alive.

Awesome! Thanks for the great info. I'm assuming the fighting would be more specifically real time and no auto attack? I guess I'll have to wait. Also, any idea if 2.1 is going to be launched before the end of the year? (apologies if this was already stated in a Letter from the producer)

But yea.... the PVP aspect of the game is going to be awesome and your gonna love it.
