I get windows crashes randomly too. Don't know how to bring up any kind of diagnostic though. Only started happening during early access/release. Phase 3 and 4 were perfectly fine. So were this past Sunday and Monday.
-
Quite a few people are getting this error.
For SE's purposes you should post the CPU, GPU, OS version, and the amount of RAM that you have.
-
Same issue. Crashes are seemingly random but can occur within 5 minutes of starting the game. I havent been able to stay logged in for more than an hour and a half since a few days ago.
Windows 7
i5-3570k
AMD Radeon 7970 Ghz Edition
4x2 for a total of 8 gigs of ram

Same issue I've been monitoring my cpu and gpu usage and heat and neither is having any problems. I've updated my drivers and it has continued.

FF14 CTD
I alt tabbed out of the game for about 30 seconds to check email and when I came back I received a message that the game had crashed. First time receiving any error from the game since phase 1 beta. Now I am screwed with 1017. ::cry::

^ Same error here, I use alt+tab and sometimes the game crashes. I play the game in full screen, with window or borderless it doesn't happen.
-
The crashing that I'm talking about isn't from alt tabbing. The game will randomly crash, sometimes 5 min, 15, and the longest has been about 45 of being in a world. I get no error, my screen goes black and no video output, sounds stutter for a few seconds and end. Windows crashes, and has no error report, all of my logging shows my 7950 as being (relatively) cool, and under decent load. My cpu is no where near heavy load and is cool. I have lowered my graphical settings from highest to high to standard and still got the crashing, no noticeable difference in how long it took to crash. I'm going to try updating to the 13.8 beta drivers, and finally I'll see about reinstalling the whole game. However I can say I've yet to get a crash like this when I'm in the character/world selection screen regardless of how long I've been there.
(computer specs remained the same)
*Update*
reinstalled the game and changed to 13.8beta drivers (radeon7950)
Still getting the crashes. I managed to play for about 35 min all my logs (cpu (usage/heat), gpu(load/usage/heat), ram, vram are all showing good and consistent the whole time. I'd think it's something in the game's code that is crashing the video drivers since stress test have shown my setup to be stable.
Also part of what I tried was dropping my resolution(from 1920x1080) to whatever that crappy stock resolution is, I changed from full screen to windowed
-
*Update 2*
I reset my bios to defaults, and made sure that my 7950 and CPU and ram weren't overclocked, video drivers were sweeped, rebooted and reinstalled to AMD 13.4 (stable) and my PSU is 750w continuous, with no success. Shortly after I began doing whatever stress tests I could on all of my hardware(prime95x64 12hours(6hours blend 6hours custom), Occt gpu:3d 5 hours, Occt PSU 5 hours, Occt CPU 5 hours, furmark (exteme burn-in +dyn back+post fx) 3 hours), and the computer handled all of that with no issues, all while using dual 1920x1080 monitors. I manage to log into ff14 before maintenance on an alt and windows 7 crashes to black screen after about 10 min, needless to say I didn't get lucky logging on again so I couldn't test again. Truthfully I'm just short of rage quitting, so I instead decide to play some civilization 5. 20 min into playing the game, windows crash to black screen! EVERYTHING was well below the load and heat that ff14 caused, heck it wasn't even showing vram utilization! I'm not sure if it is the driver or the video card itself, but I know civilization 5 runs flawlessly for HOURS on my hd5670, so something has wrong with the video card. I'd encourage everyone else to double check any other recent games to see if they are getting similar behavior, since I found no instability from any stress test but can replicate it with Civ5. I'll be going back to my hd5670 and seeing if i encounter any crashes after maintenance is complete I'll update this post then.
*Update 3* Logged in post maintenance
Before I pulled the 7950 I tried running single monitor, before maintenance, and still crashed after 20 minuets. So I changed video cards during maintenance back to my old 5670.
Using my old 5670, with the same driver, 13.4 (what i had originally) I logged on and played for about 4 hours. graphic set much lower, but playable. My play session was ended by a windows 7 crash. Unlike with the 7950 this crash was proceeded by a gray screen and about 10 minuets later caused the computer to freeze up, instead of blanking to a black screen and crashing. I restarted and attempted to log on to error 3102. Fortunately I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxfD...4&noredirect=1 to help me figure a way around the error so I could keep playing. I am RMA'ing the card 7950 and hopefully will get one that isn't having the same issue.

I scoured the internet today to look for people with the random crashing. I did several things, try different drivers, reformatted. All while being unable to login. I talked to some friends today that told me to check the event viewer. This was shown repeatedly all night:
The description for Event ID 3 from source NvStreamSvc cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

What I was told to do was get driver sweeper, and uninstall all the video drivers. once I restarted, I installed the latest drivers. Crossing fingers. This would happen literally every 5mins, sometimes sooner depending on the driver i tried. Hoping this works for me.
