question about making it to dragoon

ok, this is going to sound stupid, but i am a fresh FFXIV player and had some questions.

right now im a lvl 20 lancer and currently working on leveling up marauder.

once i hit dragoon, do i start over at level 1? if not, how does it work?

should i level lancer to 50 or just hit lancer 30/marauder 15 and level dragoon from that point on?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Main class levels along with it's job. You can level as lancer or dragoon and both level at the same time.

Whatever your Lancer is, will be the Dragoon's level.
It's basically just you getting a new name and some added skills.
