PS3 chat log prevents functions if used certain way

I have removed the "steps" part of the template because this has only occurred 2 or 3 times to me and I'm not exactly sure how to reproduce this bug.

Basically, if I use my standard ps3 controller to scroll the chat log and choose a person to reply to and the. Attempt to use my keyboard to confirm the "send tell" option from the drop down menu I can type, I can move, I can use skills but I cannot close my chat log or actually send a message. it prevents me from using multiple functions such as accessing the menu with start button, my map, and my chat log. I've noticed the drop down menu does not close but rather ends up in the background of the chat(open) inaccessible to me.
