How my Zen approach to Early Access broke down into chaos, rage, and Mountain Dew

So it was Friday night, hours before Early Access when my friend texts me and wants to know if I want to hang out the next day. For a moment I hesitate, thinking of the glorious bounties awaiting the next day in early access. But I hesitate only for a moment, promptly agreeing to bro down the following day.

I wake up realizing that I won't be playing much but I try to be detached about it. The game is back online permanently after all. So I log in just to get my taste of early access. I'm logged in for 10 minutes when the first Emergency Maintenance hits.

No big deal, I say to myself. I was planning on running some errands anyway and the maintenance almost exactly coincides with my errand time. So I run out, and then my friend texts me. We meet up and eat, then go to the movies. We decide to do a double feature. I think of the gameplay I'm missing but I am really enjoying myself in the moment. At the end of the double feature I suggest a triple, that's how willing I am to just go with the frickin' flow.

Get home, and just show my friend some sweet PS3 games he's been missing lately, like Journey. Play some Wii U Nintendoland. Some Borderlands. Stay up realll late. Finally go to bed.

Wake up today, think, wow, more than a DAY missed of early access. No big deal right, they had like 4 emergency maintenances on the first day so I guess it was meant to be right? Like written in the stars that I missed the first day. JUST THINK OF ALL THAT MISERY I SAVED MYSELF FROM, SITTING IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER WHEN YET ANOTHER EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE FORCES ME TO LOG OFF FOR 5 HOURS.

So I log in casually, and see Error 1017. It's not so bad at first, I figure there's another maintenance but.. there's not! Just a casual mention of fixed login difficulties. I'm like.. that is strange because I'M HAVING LOGIN DIFFICULTIES.

So I go to the forums and things are looking quite chaotic. I must say my Zen broke down a little upon seeing thread titles littered with error numbers.

3 THREADS, 3 HOURS, 3 MOUNTAIN DEW CODE:REDS LATER, and my unattached Zen outlook has been shattered!

I NEED MY SOUL CLEANSED SE! The Buddha has sent me your trial and I have failed!

2nd 2-liter is getting cold. ;)

- Buy the CE of the original 1.0.
- Realize it's not the game I've been waiting for. Move on.
- Years pass. People come and go, as do other games. Good and bad memories are made.
- Buy the CE of A Realm Reborn.
- Buy a second TV and playstation 3 to play with the girlfriend.
- Can't play much in beta phase 4. That's okay. I'm still zen.
- Can't play day one of early access. That's okay. We have some wine and still toast to the start of a great adventure.
- Can't play day two of early access.
- Start cynically wondering why I'm expecting things to change.
- Zen shattered.

It's called having a career lol Unfortunately, it also means you only have enough time to play this game... Dont forget we have a wide age group in the FF11/14 community.
