server lobby connection experiencing an error 2002

every time I log into ffxiv after typing ing my password It brings me to the start screen where the "start" option is grey'd out and does not allow me to select it. Shortly after a message appears stating " The lobby server connection has encountered and error" and then it logs me out and sends me back to the news feed / log in page on ps3. I have not been able to play the game at all after having preordered and entered my code and downloaded my early access privaledges. I'd like to play before launch. And if this problem isn't fixed by launch then there is no point in even buying the game.
