Server Connection : Good, Very Good, Excellent?

Hey guys.

I'd actually like to ask around if anyone knows what this means.
Yesterday a JP friend asked me to join him on Masamune quick so he can create his FC
and as i clicked on Masamune the connection said "Excellent"
but when i checked back to Ragnarok it only said "Good"

what does the connection depend on actually and what does it change if it's not actually in "excellent" condition?

I assume it would have something to do with ping? Of course I could be wrong since I live in North America and played on Cerberus (which I'm pretty sure is a EU server if I remember correctly) during the closed beta and it still said excellent.
