Cobalt Mesail / Mythril Mesail, wrong attribute points?

Cobalt Mesail and Mythril Mesail currently give Perception, a gathering status.
However, the look/model of the Mesail equip looks exactly like something a Crafting Class, specifically Blacksmith/Armorer, would wear to protect their face. In version 1.0, the Mesail was also a piece for a crafters.

I understand there have been changes to items in version 2.0, but this change does not make any sense to me, and for the above reasons I believe this to be an error. These items should give attribute points for crafting classes. So please verify the attributes of Cobalt Mesail & Mythril Mesail.
