Poor early access and general release.

I just wanted to sound off really as I was pretty pissed when I logged on this morning hoping to get a few hours in before I start work.

Yes the game is new etc... but this isn't beta and they've had ages to sort this sort of thing out. I'm working today from 1200 - 2000 and I was looking forward to playing this game all day yesterday (whilst also at work). This isn't early access as advertised when buying the game... I only pre-ordered for the early access.

I hope we are reinstated/ reimbursed game time or something because it's totally unacceptable.

Anyway I know it's not 'all about me' but this is total shit. You wait an absolute age for square to release a game that is actually any good... and you get this bag of shit. If this keeps occurring over the next month they can ram the game and I'll go back to guildwars 2 (which had a fantastic release btw).

I'm only so annoyed because I want to really get stuck in and smash this game... but it doesn't fill me with hope!

GW2 feels like it is still in beta to me. All the bugs, exploits and balance adjustments. Can't really compare the two fairly, though, as the only thing I'm aware ARR has wrong with it in game is congestion issues. Which I fully expected, with it being new and all.

Guild Wars 2 release wasn't that fantastic, not for all servers anyways. I don't see why people moan about not getting to play ARR today or tomorrow, the game will still be there and Square Enix are working hard to improve the system, surely you want a game that works? And yeah the constant rebalancing in GW2 really annoyed me, just leave my characters alone! haha.

I can understand "why" folks are upset. When we pre-ordered we got offered a few nice incentives for doing so. Some ingame items, beta access, and early access before release. That was "why" a fair number did the pre-order. Yes, we bought the game cause we wanted too, but getting what was offered should be expected.

And I can also see why many are upset with this early access. I've been stuck at lv 12 the entire day. I've almost got all my craft skills and harvesting skills upto the same level as my primary role. Why? Because we cannot get past the story quests that rely on the job finder.

Also, as the OP stated some of us work. I for one am heading on a 2 week vacation to PAX prime in seattle on Weds, and will spend the week following camping in the mountains to unwind. I personally wanted to spend the weekend getting my CNJ to lv30 so I could work on my secondary to reach WHM shortly after I got back. But since I've been stuck at lv 12 for nearly the entire day that will likely not happen.

So yes, we all get this is a release issue, but we knew this issue would happen weeks ago, heck months ago because they never sorted out forum server load issues. This was expected, but it was a foreseeable issue that SE should have addressed long before.

Name one single MMO that's ever had a flawless release. And I mean absolutely flawless: not a single bug or hiccup even on day 1. Name just one. These things happen, it's the nature of the beast. You can beta test your heart out and still run into crippling bugs that crop up when the game goes live. Some launches have it worse than others, but there's no such thing as a perfect game on launch day. Even GW2 was plagued with its share of problems to the point where ArenaNet stopped selling the game for a brief period! Not what I would call "fantastic".

I know it's frustrating. I'd rather be spending the free time I allotted for the game actually playing it too, but flipping your shit over the downtime and threatening to quit because it wasn't perfect on day 1 is silly.

We all understand your frustration (Unless your Japanese up on your perch) and share your concerns. I am personally skeptical this will be fixed by launch (yeah lets see the apologists blame it on beta then no doubt they will make another excuse for them) but unfortunately it is something we must endure through.

Personally i am hoping for all NA/ EU players to get a medal titled "please don't hate me for making you a bug test patsy to save Jpn" but i know it will never happen. Out before the perpetual apologists inevitably show up and stick their noses up SE ass. lol

Guild Wars 2 has been beset with issues from release, that southsun event completely nuked the lions arch instance for most players and it took months for players to get the event bonus's fixed up.

yea they dropped the ball here. Guild Wars 2 had free transfers from day 1 to help players who couldnt get onto full servers with their guilds. SE is gonna get bad reviews twice for ff14 LOL. This game is gonna be ripped to shreds by the general public on the 27th. Also, RIFT launched in 2011 and they didnt have any issues with servers like this game and Diablo 3 on launch.
