Conjurer AM Magic broken?

I like many leveled up conjurer because they were getting the elemental nukes and Ancient magics. I was wondering if we could get word from the development team about if these specific spells are working as intended or are broken because the stats currently are not functioning as intended?

I know a lot of would be conjurers are feeling let down that QUAKE, FREEZE, BURST, FLARE, and FLOOD seem so useless.

If we could find out from the dev team if there is another way to use these spells? are we miss using them?

Its hard to believe currently with what we know these spells function properly, best case scenario I've done 169 DMG with burst on Great Buffalo where tier 2 nukes can hit at the end of a BR for 500~ dmg sometimes more, some times less.

Last night I tested in BR at start and end and avg'd 60-80 dmg. Timing the AM to the end of a BR to get the bonus dmg did maximum 169 dmg.

Tier 2 outside of nm's with food and profII dmg sits around 2000-2500 dmg when closing a br on efts.

If anyone has more information or if we could get some inputs from the dev team I and others would certainly appreciate it.

Yes, they are presumebily broken. I think we all comparing to FFXI ones, where they are used for massive damage, and maybe here would't be the same.
But in every case, in ffxiv they do too low to justify that casting time

and the mp usage.

I hope with the battle changes this is looked at.

I would like to also hear from the dev team about the appropriate use of the spells,
at least give us a guideline saying this was how it was intended to work.

Question, what kind of food do you use in conjunction with profoundity 2? I would like to know as there not much info on FFXIV food out there..

I have no idea what they were going for with ancient magic. Usually when something's screwed up you can at least follow the train of thought regarding intent. I heard you could layer 3 AM's together. If you could, that might create a role for AM being a good DPS cast during spiritbind. However, that's not true. I can't seem to layer them at all.

They're not good for battle regimens since they reduce the total number of regimens you can do in a fight, grossly overriding their benefit.

You CAN magic burst a regimen outside of regimens, which is a little known secret...but timing regimens to the activation of ancient magic...not going to happen.

You can cast two tier II spells in less time than it takes to cast one AM, for less MP, for more damage.

I'd like to hear the recording of the developer meeting where ancient magics were discussed to see what the heck was going through their minds. If we're missing something, it's something ridiculously obscure or horribly broken.

All I have found are interesting ways to use the AM, but none of it particularly successful for damage or worth it in comparison to other spells at lower tiers. I too would like to know what the issue is with these spells. Are they broken the way battle regimens used to not work? Just waiting til enough people have them then fixing it to work correctly again?

I use crown cakes they do a great job in buffing all my magic damage.

As far as nuking outside of regimen, yes that takes timing from the mage and honestly is not worth doing you'll get more out timing a tier 2 nuke on an nm outside of regimen and is far easier to do imo.

I have tested everything I could possibly think of to increase the DMG potential of AM, and as of yet have not found a way to push damage thresholds to beyond that of anything a tier 2 can do.

My theory here and I could be wrong is that AM is very much so connected to elemental and stat affinities, and considering those are broken is causing AM to be broken as well.

That is why I want to get a conversation going and to let SE devs know this is an issue that the casting community would like to have some light shed on.

If anyone has done other testing in relation to these spells please share your fndings maybe we can figure something out on our own, however, I do think we will need some light shed from either the community reps or dev forums reps. Either way being this should be a conj's most devastating weapon it clearly is not.

Has anyone tested a BR with only Conjurer? And having only Ancient Magic spells in the list?

If your top nuke for a job (currently) has no place on your hotbar, then it is indeed broken. Elemental stats aren't all that broken ... they just don't scale that well, like all stats.

I have a low Ice stat for getting "delicious" from +potency food and the damage shows compared to my 100 Earth stat against a relatively similar leve mob (using their weak element).

Testing top damage range seems to work best (Profundity II/ Blood Rite II/ abusing weak element), all that really leaves for variables are INT/element stat.
