What to expect from SMN in XIV?

As I make my way towards level 30 in Arcanist, I am curious about how Summoner will be used in XIV. Having spent eons on the job in XI, I've often been alternately hopeful and frustrated with the shackles SMN had been forced to endure in the name of "balance", the unimaginative ways the playerbase used the job in parties, and the seeming determination among developers to "SMN-proof" each and every Notorious Monster.

From what I've been able to find out on YouTube and on forum, it seems the job will have a more truly balanced purpose than in XI, with it's affinity with Arcanist and (apparently) Thaumaturge. I can only hope I'm right.

XI was to Summoner what Diablo2LoD was to Sorcerer (on Hell): Everything with anti-magic stuff or resistant to some magic.
