In my opinion at the moment the current Action Bar implementation is really too limiting. 10 slots are way under what's needed to store someone's actions, especially in a game in which one can hybridize classes and use actions from all of them at the same time. Having to scroll between multiple bars is, as well, quite inconvenient and unconfortable.
I would suggest either implementing longer action bars by default (with 20 slots), or make the action bars extensible (from 10 to 20 slots). There's no need for the slots from 11 to 20 to have a hotkey, as they can easily remain mouse/joypad activated.
I would also implement a hotkey to switch between different bars without having to use the mouse.
Finally, I would plea for the implementation of a system to allow us to save our action bars for each class. I'd really like to have the game save, for instance, my action bar setup for my gladiator, my conjurer and so forth, and then automatically switch between them when i change class.
It would make the armory system much more streamlined and enjoyable, as now, unless one goes through the complex and long process of making a macro (and keeping it updated), changing classes is quite a pain, having to reset all the actions on the bars.
I would also do the same for crafting traits and guild marks abilities. since it's very easy to forget to reset them every time one changes class, especially when switching to a lower level class, that removes them from their slots when they are over the limit.

You have 3 rows on the action bar, thats 30 slots. Then you have two different macro bar's both with 3 rows of 10. So technically you have 90 slots. I think thats more than enough for a classes skill setup.
I do agree however with having a system that saves my setups for each class. Ive got all my skills set to macro's, but it takes awhile for the macro to set all the skills. -

it being "more than enough" for some used to the FFXI system doesn't mean it's optimal, or confortable for everyone :D
As you said setting a ton of macro is an inconvenient waste of time, while putting an ability in the action bar takes a second. Switching between bars is also inconvenient and cumbersome.
Extensible action bars are pretty much a standard nowadays, and it would help a lot in making the game more more slender and streamlined. -

@Raansu What I would define convoluted is having to switch between different bars in the middle of a fight and then back :D
If you don't like having longer bars, tough, you're very free not to extend them (that's the lovely part of extensible bars), letting people that like having skills on the same bar instead of split between multiple enjoy that as well :D
Oh, and yeah, this isn't FFXI, that's exactly my point, if you actually read what I said :D -

I agree a choice would be nice. Right now I don't have nearly enough skills to make it a problem, but maybe I would find it easier to click on an icon instead of switching bars. I can do it, and have in other games, but honestly sometimes when you're about to die, you can -easily- switch to the wrong one in a panic.

I would actually just prefer to ability to see my action bars at all times, instead of just when I have a target selected and locked on. Its a little silly to admit, but I often forget where I have my skills saved on my bars, so i'm guilty of looking down at them in other games frequently.
