so what the heck does Egi mean?

its probably a dumb question, but i was kinda curious about that suffix.

Its not a suffix. Its what the Summoners summons are called. Egi

Actually it does have a meaning and it's... A... I don't know the proper term, i'm sorry.
But Egi is from latin, a term that means 'driven by' or 'controlled by'

It's like... 'mini' or something to that effect. Yoshi explained the naming of it a while back but I'm far too tired to go digging through live letters right now for it.
