legit or just a good phishing email?

Good target audience, proper English and grammar, dunno. I'm 99% certain it's phishing, but maybe SE actually does own the email-square-enix.com domain through a 3rd party hosting service or something. Stranger things have happened (digitalriver?)

Yesterday we launched the FINAL FANTASY® XIV: A Realm Reborn™ pre-order redemption website that will allow users to receive their pre-order bonuses including Early Access to the game prior to launch. Unfortunately, we were able to confirm an issue that led to customers receiving an incorrect Early Access code for their territory.

I got it too and just made a thread about it, I don't know what to think. My code seemd to go through fine and I can still access the launcher. Could also be a blanket email they sent to all NA players.

Were there links in that email? Hover over them and see there target location. If it's the same pre-order site than it's likely not spam.

Digital River apparently handles Square-Enix's NA store.

The link is http://link.email-square-enix.com/ (I won't append the rest in case it's actual phishing). That domain is owned by a company in Melbourne and was registered last year. But maybe it was registered in preparation of the relaunch?

As said, the email is good - I rarely have to look twice at a phishing email.

email-square-enix.com traces to 206.165.245.102 at link.p0.com. square-enix.com resolves to 204.191.12.41, so unless SE owns a lot of A-Classes it's prob not legit. p0.com apparently is on the 'bad reputation' website list as well. Nm, phishing, carry on :)
