Nostalgia or...?
I was recently re-watching the openings for 1.0, and I can't help, but feel more engaged by all aspects of them in comparison to the openings for ARR. Voice acting is better, the animation looks more cinematic, the music is engaging... the atmosphere is more appealing. The story was more epic in delivery and emotional impact, in my opinion.
I'm going to link videos to these original openings and I'm curious to hear other player's opinions on them in comparison to the ARR openings. (New and old players alike.) I'm not trying to bash on the game here, but maybe there is still more to be pulled from the original game and into ARR still that could definitely help it with it's storytelling/immersion aspects.

Arr! I hope it gets better

I agree with ya. I think the 1.0 were better. The 1.0 openings were more lively. I think the ARR openings aren't bad but when comparing the two I don't think its nostalgia when saying 1.0 openings are better.

They had to kinda just throw ARR together real fast, 1.0 they had years. The difference sadly is just time.
-
1.0 was not impressive.
That's why 1.0 is gone.
-
Only think ARR is missing is a middle event fight, like in the 1.0 openings.
And the strange thing is... they provided events that could serve exactly for that, but were just left alone, I wonder, was the intention to give a fight right there and they they changed their minds?
Was it contrary to the established path for learning the game?
Anyway, that's my only 2 cents I can give about the comparison between the two versions opening sequences.

Yea, the opening in 1.0 was great if you had a computer to run it but after that the game took a nose dive off a very steep cliff.
-
Even though 1.0 was remade you have to admit that the cut scenes were really good. I agree, I like the 1.0 openings better, especially the one for Limsa.

While the openings were good, you can see clearly they put their money in the wrong places.
