WAR combos

Hi there,

With the game about to launch I was wondering if anyone could share WAR combos? Since game went down I have forgotten the best way to play WAR.

How do you set up your cross bar? I want to be a success playing war and I want to make sure I achieve this by combining the action to best of their ability. My WAR is level 50.


I have managed to have a little play in Beta but I would it if anyone could share possible combos to make tanking and damage dealing of a WAR to it's best ability.

WAR Combos go something like this

Heavy Swing -> Skull Sunder -> Butcher's Block (Builds 2 Wrath under Defiance)
Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Path (Single Target) or Storm's Eye (AoE) (Builds 2 Wrath under Defiance)

Wrath V Abilities > Inner Beast (single target) and Steel Cyclone (AoE)

Other abilities you want to use are Infuriate which automatically gives you Wrath V and Unchained, which keeps the hate buff but loses the damage nerf of Defiance for ordinary abilities.

Also, you can build wrath by using Berserk and Vengeance which both grant 1 Wrath each.

I'm just going to say that warrior is not a DPS. I assume you put this in the DPS roles thread because you're expecting that of it. Don't.

Wasn't really conscious of where I posted it. WAR might not be the best DPS but it can still be effective, when playing solo. Also, was just looking for advice on the best way to play WAR and it's combos, which HiirNoivl kindly suggested. Be it for tanking, damage dealing or a combination of both.

Just making sure you know its role is tank, thats all.

It's a tank class, only a tank class, nothing but a tank class.
You would get better results posting topics about and asking questions about it in the Tank forums

First, let me suggest you that if you really want several advices from WAR players, you should post your thread on their main section that is Tank roles. :)

For your question, here're some of my opinions:

[A] Heavy Swing -> Skull Sunder -> Butcher's Block
[B] Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Path
[C] Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Eye

-If you don't have Maim and Storm's Eye buff >use combo C
-If you have Maim buff >use combo A
-If you want to restore your HP >use combo B
-When you're infuriated and you have only one enemy, use Inner Beast (your most powerful single hit WS).
-When you're infuriated and you have a lot of enemies and want to kill them fast, use Steel Cyclone.
-Try to mix your abilities together for better performance. (ex.Blood Bath+Berserk)

I think storm's eye is single target now just like storm's path the only aoes are steel cyclone and overpower

Considering a WARs best combo is straight up enmity boost on top of madsively increased combo potency. (Heavy Swing > Skull Sunder > Butchers Block) It's a straight tank class. Luna Child summarized how warrior is played extremely well by the way. Also, if you're trying to DPS I don't think being in Defiance is a good plan you take a damage reduction with an increase in enmity.
