PS3 Account Region Issue
I live in Australia and have an NA Square Enix account (originally from FFXI US launch since it wasn't in my country)
During phase 3 I received a code to download the client and was able to link & login using my NA Square Enix account without any issue.
I got a code for the Phase 4 beta and when trying to login with my account it said 'The region is different' and did not allow me to link my Square Enix account to my PSN one, asking for me to use software from the correct region.
I had actually asked about this very thing in the 'A Realm Reborn purchase questions' thread moons ago without answer. I then asked SE support about it and they said they couldn't answer, so I repeated my question in purchase thread, highlighting it was an important question and still received no answer.
I ask this again, now that I have already paid for an NA PS3 CE to get pre-order bonuses.
Will I be able to attach my Square Enix account to my AU PSN account like I did in Phase 3?
I'd hate to have to make an NA one purely for this purpose, especially since this would effectively lock me out of any/all of the features to use from my true PSN account.
Please answer :(

After succeeding in redeeming my code on the website and generating a PS3 code - I was unable to use the 'Redeem Codes' function through PSN - I suspect again because of this region issue.
It said the code wasn't correct or no longer valid.
I'm guessing this means that I won't receive pre-order bonuses until the account has been linked to PSN after redeeming the codes?
It worked in Phase 3! From an EU client! :(

Sorry to say but you will need an NA Sony Entertainment Account if you intend to play the Playstation 3/4 version. Reason being the the codes will only work in said region. This will include future expansions and possibly the registration code itself. This will be an inconvenience for you later on and I think you better off playing the PC version.
You can play from any client just fine, the problem are the unlocks from the network itself. How would you bind a conflicting code. Like a registration code, EU version wont work on your SE account but the NA code won't work on your SEN(PSN) account.

I do already play from PC fortunately >_<
It worked in Phase 3 though! I was able to attach my NA Square Enix account through an EU PS3 client and successfully log in. :(

You can log in just fine. The problem is conflicting registration keys. In the beta you only needed to register one platform to play on any. That does not work on the retail version.

Nope can't attach the accounts this time around - 'The region is different' is the message I get when trying to do it this time. It asks me to use software from the correct region my account belongs to.
It didn't do this in Phase 3 - I was able to play from both platforms :(

I just had a thought - since the error I received told me the *software* needed to be the same region as my *square enix* account - is the PSN account region irrelevant here?
i.e. Could I delete the EU software I downloaded from Phase 4, make an NA PSN account to use the 'Redeem Codes' then get the *software* and switch back to my true PSN account to login and link with?
Confirmation of this would be greatly appreciated...since I'd have to download the gigs again...Australians have bad internet :(

I know that pre-order bonuses won't come til official launch. I've also got an old asuran armguards code I never realised I could redeem and I understand that I will still have an opportunity at some point to redeem these.
It seems like I won't receive the latest pre-order bonuses until I attach my Square Enix account to a PSN account...maybe even after using the code to download?
Hoping I don't get drowned in the sea of tech support threads ^^;

PS3 Side:
You will need a US account in order to redeem PSN codes and/or buy DLC. For FFXIV this is only the pre-launch client right now, but it's possible they might do download-only expansions in the future.
Once you have something downloaded/installed, you can _play_ using any PSN account on that machine.
So once your CE arrives, you'll be able to start up the client from disc using your AU account just fine (but see below).
S/E Side:
Registration keys will likely be region-bound as well (as we've seen from the NA/EU early access codes kerfuffle).
This is where things fall apart even though you can launch the client, and your AU PSN ID is linked to your S/E account, chances are you won't be able to apply the game's registration code to your S/E account at all.
As for preorder items, they're tied to the early access registration code, so if you can't apply that, the preorder items won't be activated either.

I admit it's a little sad seeing everyone with their minions and mog caps knowing I can't have mine yet :(
Might have to just try downloading again if I don't get a response soon.
Zastai you may be right but there's still a chance it could work!
I'm not fussed about expansions at this point, just want my pre-order bonuses >_<;
