Please merge servers!
Not much else to say. Blame it on conserving energy if you want.
It's really sad to see such empty towns and not be able to find party's; not from busy players but from lack of players.
It doesn't have to be a permanent solution I'm sure the member base will grow again when you release significant content but in the mean time for those who do play, give us people to play with.
Re-enable /sea all and then merge a few servers.
If there isn't a population problem then re-enable /sea all.

Merging servers will almost certainly have a negative effect when it comes time to release the ps3 version as well as current sub count.
It has a massive negative stigma with it, and although it would help the playability of the game, having all the media outlets post "FFXIV mergers servers after just 6 months" would further worsen the problem with sub count, causing people to quit the game just because of the merger as well as new players being turned away from the game.
I just don't see a server merge being worth it no matter how low the current sub count gets on a server.

So you rather playable vrs unplayable for perception reasons?
What?
Nothing's stopping them from releasing more operating servers once ps3 starts.
It does not make sense to continue operating servers for a few hundred players at a time. If it's more than that release /sea all so players can see if it's worth the time putting groups together or to try another day.
Why would players quit just because they now have more people and a larger community to play with. Your anecdotal argument dosent hold up very well.

That would mean PS3 players would have to be on servers all of their own. No one wants that.
-
No -.- i would love for more players to be around but no they just have to reopen them and then ps3 players would be by themself which a lot of them would be real life friends of mines.

No. Merging servers now would only cause problems in the long run (PS3 launch). They shouldn't even consider server merges or transfers until the population stabilizes after PS3 launch otherwise we'll have some problems with all the PC players being on one set of servers and all the PS3 players left to inhabit the left over ghost town servers.
