Sakaguchi's Opinion

I've been wondering, FF has come a long way. I wonder what Hironobu Sakaguchi
thinks of the direction the series is going. Do you think he's proud of Yoshi for how he (Yoshi) is treating the series or this game specifically?

The last game he was involved with was X-2. Since he doesn't work at SE, does his opinion matter anymore? Think he'll play ARR? Maybe we'll party up with the creator of FF!

In case you have been living under a rock for the past 25 something years, Hironobu Sakaguchi created the series. I would think his opinion would matter.

Is there an interview with him talking about FF after he left somewhere? One where he talks about 13 and specifically 14? I would love to read it.

I've recently been wondering the same thing, actually, what with replaying Final Fantasy IX, my favourite FF, and remembering that Sakaguchi claimed it as his favourite as well. Also, with IX being a hollaback to past incarnations, and XIV seeking much the same, I half-wonder if he is pleased to see this done. I'd like to think so.

He's been very distant with Square Enix since his forced resignation.

He's said in the past he wanted to try other things beyond the Final Fantasy Series.

Seems he moved on.

Well, at the very least I think his opinion would matter to the fans like me. Would be cool to interview him or something.

I remember reading a quote from him: "I'm tired of talking about it."

It's a shame if he really is sick of it. He should be proud that his work left such a lasting impression on the gaming world. I suppose he would like to show that he's still an amazing developer, though, and not feel like his previous success is carrying him.

The Last Story was a good game. It felt like the proper direction FF should have taken, rather than the excessive and superficial sci-fi flashiness we have in XIII. It had real heart, even though it lacked the budget FF currently has.

Context : he said this during a press tour for The Last Story, which means he wasn't here to talk about a concurrent game. Despite this, a lot of media still talked about FF during the interviews about The Last Story. Anyone could become tired of it.

This isn't the only thing making me worried he's sick of it. I'd heard (and this is more hearsay than anything, I admit) that he told someone at SE on twitter to stop rehashing FF. I'd be bitter, too, if my employer hijacked my brain child after forcing me to quit, and the media kept shoving it back in my face. I wonder what he thinks when an FF commercial pops on TV, knowing he had nothing to do with its development.

SE does good work, but it always felt like newer FF games lacked something personal since Sakaguchi left. I thought he did a great job with The Last Story, and I wish I had an XBox to try Lost Odyssey to see what he's capable of in HD gaming, and if it has the same heart. Oh, well.

Lost Odyssey is a great game, brings back that old JRPG feel aswell as striking the player right in the feels multiple times. Not to mention the characters cool. Combat system is kinda like FFIV and while I have yet to beat the game (Vilhem took it out of town ; ;) I still rate it as one of the top xbox RPGs I've played.

Also it made me cry a few times ;_;

Oh and the music was nice. (Spoiler free music link incoming)

Possibly a little too basic, but then possibly I've been spoiled by XIV. :)

Anyway, hopefully the team will reunite to make FFXX or something, like all good rock bands!
