Guys I hope they will let us merit like in FF11. I liked specializing my job, and making them more powerful. What do u guys think about that? I appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

I think it's a long way off if it happens. There's probably upwards of five years before they raise the level cap as high as they ultimately plan to go.
If and when it does come, they better bear in mind the final level cap like they didn't do last time.
Merits weren't put in until like 3 years after NA launch. I think they'd have to find a reason to keep the level cap at a certain point for a long time to justify doing merits.
Hopefully they have a level cap raise every two years or so. I don't want to see another level 75 for 7 years debacle.
For those like myself that had to look up what Merits were....
What are Merit Points?
Once a character has reached level 75, you will have the option to earn limit points when defeating enemies, instead of Experience Points. Once 10,000 limit points are obtained, they convert into one merit point. Merit points are a type of "currency" used to "buy" extra enhancements for a character whose main job has reached level 75 or higher, though some merit categories will partially affect lower-level jobs.
i hope they do use this sytem
I don't see why they need merit points...when you hit 10+ you get bonus points to add to stats on top of stat boost gained by lvl...so Merits would be over doing it unless its to gain skills outside the normal lvling and job quest lines..other then that no its not needed
I'd rather have Square-Enix raise the level cap instead. Merit points = no thanks.
more grinding at cap. no thanks. i rather be doing things in game then doing a boring time sinking forever.
While i would like something like merit points i think i would like a system thats more flexible. Like for example rather than being locked into something you put points into, you instead equip things you earn and can swap different bonuses around depending on what content you are engaging in. And what other players around you have equipped. Kind of like the FFIX ability/trait system.
