PS3 limitations?

Little bit nervous about this.

a friend told me that SE has admitted that there WILL be PS3 limitations on FFXIV development

I'm not surprised because PS3 is ancient, 8 year old hardware :(

what do you guys think the PS3 limitations are?? storage space, area sizes? :confused:

somewhat related: why are they releasing FFXIV on PS3 when the console is already out of date? isn't the plan to make FFXIV last a long time? how's that going to work on an out of date console?

Well if one were to keep up with the current news, PS4 is backwards compatible with PS3 games.

No it isn't.

Posting history is always enlightening. A particular user debuted in this forum with a thread that says that they should scrap the PS3 version, in which he's explained multiple times that there won't be any PS3 limitations for this game and why, then he opens a moltitude of trollthreads until he finally runs out of false and misleading arguments and then goes back full circle to say that "a friend" (LOL :rolleyes:) told him that there will be PS3 limitations.

Which, of course, is impossible, since the PS3 is not the leading platform, and EVERYTHING in development can be scaled down on port target platforms without affecting the lead platform.

The PS3/PC servers are shared if you didn't know, so if content needs to be limited to accommodate the PS3 version, the PC will suffer too.

It's already plainly obvious that elements of ARR are being scaled back/toned down to accommodate the ancient PS3 hardware.

No, I'm reporting you for pulling out a topic that has already been discussed and explained to death in another thread that you opened, and for being a very obvious and persistent, although very weak, concern troll.

On top of that the second part of your OP is exactly the same topic of your previous thread.

I suggest finding solid arguments, it may make your trolling more believable. I will explain for the unawares, so they don't fall in your net and then go do something more constructive and leave the moderators do what they deem necessary.

Content in a MMORPG is client-side. It doesn't stream from the servers. Sharing servers does not in any way affect content, as the PS3 version could easily have the same graphics as minecraft, and be able to run seamlessly on the same servers as the PC version.

Of course you've been already explained this multiple times in the previous thread. Which clearly identifies you.

You saying something is "obvious" doesn't make it so.

I never said that they couldn't tone down the GRAPHICS of the PS3 version without limiting PC. What about content that needs to be the same between users, like the size of areas? Also, plenty of game content is server-side and has to be the same between PS3 and PC users if they want to share servers.

There is more to a game than just stuff like textures, which can be scaled down for the ancient hardware of the PS3.

Please educate yourself... if you knew anything about ARR, you would know that 'PS3 limitations' is already a thing.
