Linux version will most likely not be made but how about wine

I have winows 7 on my system to play this and left 4 dead, but the port of valve games to linux has already started so soon this will be only windows game I have and everything else I do on the pc i do in linux, but maybe Square enix can reach out to wine base software venders like playonlinux or crossover this could also help mac people play the game as well. I know alot people love there windows system but i don't and there many that dont care for OS.

Linux is now standing strong as a legitimate gaming platform. It now represents over 2% of all active Steam users. Well 2% is not a game-changing number right now, it is pretty dramatic when you consider a couple of other key things. For one, the mac represents 3.07% of Steam’s userbase. While that number is over 30% greater than Steam for Linux, it means nothing considering Steam for Mac debuted 3 years ago. The first stable release of Steam for Linux debuted last month. So there is money to be made here i love full native client i just dont see it happen. so how about working with wine venders to make good working setup for wine.

When you get the game or get in to the beta, you're welcome to try it and let us know if it works or not. Though obviously if anyone in the beta has tried it, they won't be able to tell you without violating the NDA =\

It can't be as difficult to get running on wine as FFXI was, since the game was built on PC first it probably adheres to various API standards a lot better.

I want to believe, however wine itsn't exactly performance-friendly on taxing games.
But hell, i want to believe ;_;

wine just depends on everything in your system, might work on one guys pc and not the other. linux version is a guess to. not as simple as having up to date versions.

My issue with Wine is...well.

A friend of mine knew someone who did their own port of XIV to Wine..and it was terrible...(I play on iMac and MacBook Pro)

I have my macs bootcamped just to play xi and xiv (and I've been dabbling in Tera and other games as well) and it's so much better that way than trying to use Wine. That's my only experience with Wine. so I don't know if it's actually good in some instances or not.

However, I'd love a port to mac....Then I wouldn't even need to have windows...(but I like to have windows just in case anyway D:)
