Should Notorious Monsters and Faction Leves be Separate from the Aetheryte System?
Some of you might have already noticed... but I hate the guildleve system. It seems very clinical and systematic, and something like that shouldn't form the basis of an MMO. From my perspective, you can't have immersion and convenience at the same time.
As a compromise, I think it's fair to keep the guildleve system in place so as to give players some direction when grinding. But at the same time, I think it's also fair to keep the aetheryte camps purely for grinding and not for starting quests with more substance. For example, they shouldn't be used for real quests like NM and faction leves.
Such leves should be relegated to a more typical MMO questing system. After all, Rank Missions from FFXI wouldn't have been nearly as interesting if you just went to some place and threw a hologram in the air now would they? It's best to involve some type of adventure for players, otherwise it's somewhat of a waste of developer's time to bother with making these elaborate stories and monster models only to have them contraverted by a "quest system" that detracts from the sense of immersion SE are trying to create.
So, do you think the aetheryte camps should be down-played by SE for future content or do you think they are a marvellous idea?
