is it "safe" to delete client 1.0?

i will make a fresh install of my system to play beta
I was wondering if it is safe to delete the old client. For some reason I AM or was under the impression that we still need the old client when we re-create our old character?

Is this ture or can i just go and format my pc?

You only need to save the character data found in your 'My Games' folder, the client itself can be removed.

That said, what happens to our character date if we accidentally deleted it when uninstalling the game? Isn't our actual progress, inventory etc stored on the FFXIV servers?

I think I'll play it safe and wait until my character is in 2.0, though its nice to know in case you are hurting for storage space.

It's just for the character creator benchmark. You can delete everything off your local machine and it will still be on the server waiting for you whenever the heck that happens.

your characters not on your HDD. everything is on SE servers. you basicly have place holders of everything on your HDD.
