Whats up with that Warrior? Benchmark.

It seems like at around 2:00~ in the benchmark that warrior fighting Ifrit does type of weird ranged attack.

I swear it looks like he is busting out a bow or something.

Any thoughts?

I'm inclined to think that it was a throwing axe like mrd/war could use in their ranged slot from 1.0. I'll have to take a closer look when I get off work.

They stated they would do away with consumable ranged weapons (Throwing spears for LNC, Chakram for MNK, etc)
LNC has a throw skill, that throws a spear, but doesn't use up any consumable. So i'm assuming all melee classes will have ranged skills; using the same items they could throw in 1.0...except bomb arms, etc :)

Even so it doesn't really look like he is chucking a throwing axe, but pulling out a cross-bow, or some kind of pistol or something. He throws his axe on his shoulders raises his arm strait out, and boom.

i feel like he actually just doing emote during battle.. /point


after a closer look, is like he is casting something and not throwing anything at all. he just brace up lifting his palm side up facing the sky then turn over his palm facing down the earth.

Its hard to say. That green energy ball thing that flies across the screen I thought was coming from him at first, but closer look would show otherwise.
However, it still seems he is shooting something yellow/redish from his hands.

Also, it almost looks like something either folds out of his hand, or just appears in his hand, again almost something like a pistal or crossbow.

Ya the green stuff looks like some buff. 4 green orbs orbiting some char in the foreground.
The red stuff is either someone casting Fire, (which would be dumb vs Ifrit) or it's fire from Ifrit, whirling around someone.
Otherwise it just looks like he building up momentum, by moving axe behind his back, before chopping/throwing.

It's very simple to see what he does if you focus. He's provoking Ifrit. Probably a new animation.

He slaps the axe on his shoulder, stretches his arm out and beckons towards himself. A cocky sort of "come and get me" gesture. Makes perfect sense for Warrior.
