Very dark places - Luminous... Mascots ?

In these new screeshots we can see that the night seem darker than the (blue)v1 and it's pretty nice ! :o

I wonder if there will be dark places where we can't see a thing, and we'll have to obtain tool (torch) before go in. I don't think they'll add torch in FFXIV Arr (moves development, create torchs..., armoury system, unable to have a two hand axe or shield...) so i wondered if they can use the mascots they talked about to make some light :)

It'll be pretty fun to have dark places and the fear of going into trouble with high levels mobs, or cliffs. And the mascots can give us a bit of light to help us in these dark places, and have this utility. :)

That's just an idea ! I love dark scary places and the fear we can have to die or fall because we can't see a thing ! :o

The new screen shots look darker the less the moon is visible. So will it be pitch black in the field on new moon?

Yes torch would be great. Or some head gear with lights?

As a side note, the lighting looks fantastic in the Gridania screenshots.

Just wanted to say that.

It does seem like they'll do that. In 1.0 it looks like there's a full moon all the time even when it was a crescent, but in the 2.0 it looks more realistic.

Instead of just popping make them actually come out of the ground XD!!. I love those night time pics and the moon isn't just a white circle up there anymore can actually feel it's roundness 3D-ish :D

your guys are just looking at the illusion of color it didnt get any darker. element like adding lights make you think its dark the sky's color just changed.

when it get dark you see black but everything is very ambient.
