PVP Coliseum

Any knows by how they are going to implement it? I was hoping for something like .hack//G.U. pvp coliseum. Where we can register for competitions and we have ranking based on numbers we won and who we beat... I personally don't like the challenge anywhere type pvp; I think there should be a place for it. If they haven't already explained how its going to be done, what do you guys want it to be like?

I meant I like PVP in a certain area not just freely anywhere... I've run into many challenges random challenges before they tend to get annoying after a while, although this may have been because they were F2P...

oh, I misread it

Well, I presume they'd just be using the existing Coliseum under the GLA Guild in Ul'dah, which is already an instanced area (it's only used for a couple of PvE fights related to the GLA class quests), so it wouldn't take a lot of alterations/reprogramming to change it into a PvP arena.)

Only other thing I can think of is this hypothetical 'Gold Saucer'-like area that has been mentioned as a possibility for the game might include something similar (Gold Saucer in FFVII itself had a battle arena after all).

With Yoshida-san being a hardcore PvP player, he seems to have finalized this at a very early stage of the ARR project ;)

Dev team make a new building in Limsa as PvP arena (Limsa need more touristic spots ^^).

The way I think PvP is going to work is like this; or at least I'll like it to work this way.

Coliseum is going to be a friendly PvP arena with no cool down for entry, and with no penalties.

Front Lines is a zone dedicated for Free Company, or Grand Company PvP. Main objective is to seize control of forts and ancient ruins from the opposing faction (free company or grand company)

I just hope we get 1vs1 as well as 4vs4 and 8vs8 and some nice rewards. And skill should be much more important than equipment.

Oh and maybe FFXIV:ARR PvP will be available before Diablo3 PvP :D

there will not be any open world PvP. All PvP will be in special places. This has been established for a long time.
