Crafting More Exciting Than Battling? Heck YES!

Greetings!

Just watched the alpha video of crafting and let me just say that the changes to the crafting system are AMAZING! It's like SE consulted both Bob Vila and Bob the Builder on making their crafting system. Good job SE! Crafting seems less monotonous than it was in 1.0, and when compared to the alpha battle video it seems more exciting than even battling monsters (though I don't know if this is a good thing or not if you don't like to craft :confused:)

I agree!!! I normally don't gather or craft but now I'm just excited to. I might even cook. The only thing I don't like are the hp bar near monsters far away from the player, it seems to ruin the atmosphere of the area.

i like it thought i thought the one thing that wasn't really broken at 1.0 launch was the crafting. yes slow,

yes things needed to be added from ingredient/recipe lists and faster crafting/easier method for all items to go in craft box but in general the crafting was much more in depth. it started off like how ffxi ended at rank 75. needed other crafts for your own craft, need for some items to use other items ..like 1 wand in recipe for another. (though that is i think still in there.) also the need for some sub crafts(but that might come)

in general just seemed better the old way. but i like the less items needed personally and i love the in game recipe list and gathering looks good too. also glad they making melds simpler and easier, hopefully they won't effect game content epic gear loots(hoping it does the opposite and they planning on making content gear the best not melds). but yeah it will be good, though lol not better then battles i hope.

I "got a feeling" party grind exp will be hella fun with ARR battle system tho...

but crafting, just click here and there and I can make stuffs from different recipes. it's super cool. I wonder what the skills we learned later lv will do.

I don't get it, is there something I'm missing. It looks almost exactly the same as it did before? Whats so significant in gathering and crafting other than the more detailed readouts on what you are gathering an the status of your synthesis?

Looks the same as before but you choose your actions on the hotbar as opposed to a pop up box. Pretty much looked the same to me. Doing this for hour and hours at high level won't be that fun either.

I'l agree that crafting looks better in this version than the last. But more exciting than battling? How? Did the OP and I see the same crafting video? :confused:

It's not the same, though. In 1.0, you started each craft with 100 durability, and durability loss was governed by the RNG. Now, the starting value for durability varies per item, and durability loss seems to be arithmetic and based on the skill being used.

Also, instead of only being able to use skills once, you can use skills as many times as durability and your CP pool allow. It looks like crafting is now going to be about managing resources, leaving the end result much more in the hands of the crafter.

In 1.0, crafting was still too random to feel like it was skill based. Yes, you had to decide when the right time to use your skills was, but failing a synth too often felt like it was out of your control. In ARR, if you fail a synth, you have no one to blame but yourself.

• 1. to start a synth is faster and easier

• 2. I think it's more challenge & fun to get HQ, yet more stable

• 3. easier to lv up

the system in general it looks different. but if you look carefully, there is a weird bar down there call CP and each icon has a red number same color as CP bar. so I think these are, like MP, every time you try to boost quality you cost CP and your durability. The green icon has 66 cp I think, but it charge back 30 durability... and again, this is only low lv9 lv range. I bet at higher lv has more fun ability to play with.

By the way, if your eyes are sharp enough, you see when that kitty go to lv 10 the #2 ->24 and #3->70 red value increased too with total cp 142->147 is also increased... how's that going to change the whole synth process... /think

also, food, gear and boost... what to choose... craftmanship, m. craftmanship (/trap) or is there any way to +CP... can't wait to get my hands on it. /wink


3. look at that kitty's gained exp, just 2 successful "standard touch" she got 92% increase in exp. and exp bar just fly up a big chunk

If there's no wrist-flick then of course battling would be boring, since you have no way to defend yourself.
