A New Realm with new Threads (Gear Styles that should be around in ARR)
With the announcement of belts individual graphical displays removed stating with the reason to allow more freedom for designers and vanity slot possiblity I thought we should discuss visual styles that should be present in ARR. Now I am not a fashionable person in the least so feel free to correct me if my terminology is wrong.
Tasteful Sexy?!
While a small sect there were and I assume still are those that had an issues with the revealing coliseum gear. Calling it lewd and the opposite response was more or less calling them a prude I personally do not care but there are alternatives to approaching nudity that are still "enticing" if you will.
Back when FFX concepts were revealed the rumor mill was churning out how the designs were from Shinjuku Fashion shows and JPOP idols which FFX-2 did little to quash but styles like those are an alternative such as LuLu from X and Yuna, Rikku, and Paine from X2.
Flowing Garbs
There has been a steady desire of flowing scarfs such as that as Rikku's in X2 and lot of it aimed at the wondrous wit. Now I am not sure if the game would suffer from having items in a graphical and resource way as I understand the game has to be able to have everyone wear it at the same time and suffer no gameplay issues. But many do want to see it not specifically because of the flowing animation in general but inadvertently. Such as wanting their RDM to have caps or the Scarf of Wondrous Wit to be very shinobi like and then someone is going to eventually want the MGS Solid Snake or Ryu the undefeated headbands blowing in the wind. So while this is more a visual cinematography thing then a static look I think it is something that should be inconsideration.
Military Gear that is Militaristic
Many of the armors from the grand company follow a specific color code but that alone doesn't really give off the military feel. More of a parade ground decoration. The crisp and preen look is not bad on anything really but military gear should be exceptionally functional even in appearance. Where even the gaudy specifics carry a rigid specification. Now mimicking older military uniforms portray the feelings like that of FFXIV with Sazh jacket having the imperial english navy design
with some additions the PSYCOMM high command mimicking german trench coat like designs (intentional or not I am unsure) for Nabaat and Rosch.
A New Realm with new Threads (Gear Styles that should be around in ARR)
Solid input even if from the few but lets not stop here.
Tough threads for tough work
DOL and DOH are getting "AF" sets (More so job-specific) at some point but one cause all purpose design that is not in the game is the overalls. Not the most glamorous but if designed the right way they can be either cute or very functional looking. The devil is in the details. emblems, stitching even pocket placement can effect how it will look. Let take Wakka's overals from X for example...really goofy looking but it can be done right as they have shown with some background npcs and Cid in Advent children. Here is a fully artistic concept of Dajh clearly meant to bring the cute.
